Refund topic
Subscription refunds and cancellations
Short answer: cancelling a subscription usually stops future charges but doesn't refund the current period. Refunds depend on the provider's terms and on local law.
App purchases are an exception. If you bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the refund request normally goes to Apple or Google, not to the app developer. The subscription refunds guide explains how.
